Saraswati College of Education is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and gender-sensitive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. Upholding the principles of dignity, equality, and respect, the College has constituted a fully functional Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in line with UGC Regulations, 2015. The ICC ensures prevention, timely redressal, and resolution of sexual harassment and related grievances on campus.

Objectives of the ICC
  • Promote a zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment and misconduct.
  • Provide a safe, confidential, and accessible channel for registering complaints.
  • Conduct regular awareness programs, sensitization workshops, and training sessions.
  • Ensure complainants are supported, protected from stigma or retaliation, and empowered to voice concerns.
  • Investigate complaints fairly, legally, and within prescribed timelines.
  • Foster a culture of respect, equality, and non-discrimination across the campus.
Definition of Sexual Harassment

According to UGC Guidelines, sexual harassment includes but is not limited to

Unwelcome physical contact or advances

Requests or demands for sexual favors

Sexually suggestive remarks, jokes, or gestures

Display of pornography or sexually explicit material

Any verbal, physical, or digital conduct creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment

How to File a Complaint

Complaints can be submitted anonymously or with identification.

Offline: Submit a written complaint to the Presiding Officer or Principal’s Office

Complaint Resolution Process
  1. 1 Complaint Received (Online/Offline)
  2. 2 Preliminary Review by ICC
  3. 3 Notice to Respondent & Internal Hearing
  4. 4 Confidential Investigation & Evidence Collection
  5. 5 Findings & Recommendations Submitted to Head of Institution
  6. 6 Action Taken Report Issued

Timeline: All complaints are addressed and resolved within 90 days. Both complainant and respondent are guaranteed equal opportunity to present their case and receive support throughout the process.

Mandatory ICC orientation for all new students and staff.

Regular sensitization workshops and training sessions.

Display of helpline numbers, posters, and guidance materials across campus.

Observance of Vishakha Guidelines and Women’s Rights Awareness Days.

Partnerships with legal experts and NGOs for workshops and awareness programs.
